MRIGNAYANI

Acrylic on rolled canvas- 21 in * 17 in

This is a painting I had been waiting to do for quite a long. Indian queens and princesses  are the most adored and appreciated for their beauty and elegance. "Mrignayani" was the famous Gurjar queen married to Mansingh Tomar who was the most illustrious of the Tomar Rulers of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India. This happened in

Tradition has it that Mrignayni was very beautiful and courageous woman who said no to veiling her face like other queens did and fought a few battles along with Raja Man Singh. She resided in a separate palace made exclusively for her, the Gujari Mahal.   Ha ha ha....can pretty much relate to today's Indian women who wear Sarees reluctantly and fight the daily battles of juggling work, home, kids & relations along with their Kings ! :)

Well this is how this piece can add to the charms of Your Palace........your "Home sweet Home".........
